"Some" help is on the way!

Federal officials are giving an Atlanta agency $2 million dollars to help out homeless and to respond to the regions’ mortgage foreclosure crisis.   The federal government however, downgraded the amount, the original number was $12.3 million dollars. But anything is better than nothing.  In response, Mayor Shirley Franklin held a press conference where she addressed her administrations’ efforts to help the homeless and to limit the destructiveness of foreclosures to the city.  “Our challenge is to demonstrate that this program can succeed,” the mayor said. “This is a way to stop the bleeding.”

Last year, city code enforcement workers put notices on about 1,200 vacant homes, alerting police that no one should be inside them.  According to city officials, the city is on pace to double that number this year.

How can a person do this?

School officials are consulting with national AIDS organizations to try to get this situation under wraps. I will keep you posted as new developments come.

Today Georgia's Supreme Court ruled in favor of a transgender politcian who sued two of her political oppponents who claimed she misled voters by running as a  woman.

The Court came up with the notion that the two political opponents who filed the lawsuit failed to produce evidence of fraud, misconduct or illegal action after claiming that Michelle Bruce "tricked" voters by identifying herself as a female.

Bruce is currently to be the state's first transgender politician. By the way, she landed a seat in the Riveradale District of Georgia in 2003. Her platform was to attract more jobs and resident to the struggling metro town.

However, she failed to capture enough votes to avoid a runoff against finsher Wayne Hall. To see her picture log on to 11alive.com, in the meantime watch this youtube video.
